In Cancun, climate negotiators have agreed to some small and non-binding measures. A mitigation fund will begin providing aid to developing nations. Pacific Island nations will receive resources to battle erosion and salt-water intrusion into their drinking water (3 mm/yr adds up quickly when you live on a coral lagoon). The meeting also established a standard for reporting emissions, although there is no legal pact or enforcement for emissions cuts. Still, following the disaster of Copenhagen, any good news is welcome. The group will readjourn in Durban in December 2011.
