High Speed Rail and Intellectual Property in China
Norihiku Shirouzu reports for the Wall Street Journal on China's nascent yet booming high-speed rail industry. A senior engineer for the leading Chinese state-owned rail manufacturer, CSR, explained, "we attained our achievements in high-speed train technology by standing on the shoulders of past pioneers." As CSR now stands to compete in global markets, many foreign innovators resent this weight on their shoulders but struggle to find legal recourse in the People's Republic.
