Leak at Indian Point

A leak in a buried pipe at Indian Point nuclear power plant, near New York City, released no contaminants but did stir up some anti-nuclear sentiment. Additionally, questions are raised about the safety of this nuclear power plant in particular, and also the nation's nuclear plants in general, as many utilities seek 20-year extensions to their original 40 year licences from the NRC, many of which will expire soon.
